These trails are open to the public. However, they can also be reserved for charity walking or running events. Call White River State Park directly at 317-249-2712 to book your event.
White River State Park is well connected to a much larger biking/hiking trail system.
The picturesque canal runs through the park from the White River to West Street, then turns north up to 10th Street. The Canal Walk (on both sides of the canal) is just part of the Cultural Trail, which runs throughout downtown Indianapolis.
Old Washington Street Bridge
This expansive pedestrian-only bridge crosses over the White River and features various art installations.
River Promenade
This half-mile paved walkway on the west bank of White River (behind the Indianapolis Zoo) is lined with evergreens and huge Indiana limestone blocks. Through carvings in the limestone you can learn about famous U.S. buildings that are made of Indiana limestone.
Open 6am-9pm March-October; 6am-7pm November-February. Exceptions for events.
Waterfront Trail and East Walkway
The White River Waterfront Trail and East Walkway form the east border of the Park, along the White River and IUPUI to New York Street.
Waterfront Trail and West Walkway
The White River Waterfront Trail and West Walkway form the west border of the Park, along the White River and White River Parkway to New York Street.
